For the third year, the conference is held in the Welsh seaside university town – Aberystwyth and over 200 software developers from around the world, including Argentina and Malaysia, have pre-registered to attend this sell-out event which is being held between 3 – 5 September on the university campus.

Professor Chris Price, from the Department of Computer Science at Aberystwyth University and one of the main organisers of iOSDevUK said: “The iOSDevUK team are looking forward to welcoming back the novice and expert software developers who are keen to share their knowledge and skills with a community of like-minded people.”

Keynote speakers include Dave Addey, managing director of Agant  - who will be sharing his experience of having developed the popular UK Train Times App for iPhone users – and Matt Galloway, founder of Swipe Stack – a software development company that has developed a number of iPhone Apps that have featured in Apple’s highly competitive and profitable ‘Best Apps’ category.

In addition, delegates will be invited to attend a series of technical and business workshops hosted by Software Alliance Wales - a Swansea University led multi-million pound project supported by the European Social Find through the Welsh Government.

Chris Loftus, Teaching Fellow at Aberystwyth University and Course Developer for Software Alliance Wales, explained: “The shared aim of iOSDevUK and Software Alliance Wales is to help software developers share their experiences and learn new skills.

“Through working together we can identify the future training needs of this community and, ultimately, help Wales and the rest of the UK to address the recognised and growing ICT skills gap.”

For many attending the conference, the highlight will be the Arduino-iPhone Hack – an opportunity for iOS developers to get together to build intelligent devices, based on the latest technologies, that have the potential to deliver practical solutions to real-life problems.

Each development will be demonstrated at the end of the conference and, following a peer review, the winners of the ‘Best Idea’ and ‘Best Implementation’ will be awarded a small prize in recognition of their achievement.
