The new Flora Industria Wildflower Garden has been created to show how industry can exist side by side with nature and to demonstrate the beauty of plants normally viewed as weeds.

The day is aimed at families and people of all ages and will include the official opening of the garden as well as a number of activities including a Crymlyn Burrows wildflower walk; face painting; the chance to learn how to make natural rope; the chance to collect their own wildflower seeds and the opportunity to watch time-lapse footage of the garden growing. The event is free and food and refreshments will be provided.

Benajmin Sampson, Biodiversity Officer at Swansea University, said:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to engage with the University, to find out what we are doing to make our Bay Campus more beautiful and to showcase our commitment to biodiversity.

“We hope to see a large number of people at the event – we even have plans to move activities into our active classroom if the weather proves less than friendly!”

The fun day will take place on Saturday, September 1 from 11am until 3pm next to the Oracle at the Bay Campus.

All are welcome, the campus is on Fabian Way bus routes and route 4 of the National Cycle Network and cars will be able to park on site at the Bay Campus (pay and display charges apply).
