The conference is for all early career researchers with an interest in an academic career. It demonstrates that Engineering and STEM subjects are accessible to all and supports 2018 as the Year of Engineering.

The conference is taking place on Thursday 22^nd February from 09.00 – 16.00 at the University Bay Campus.

The programme will include stories from current Swansea fellows, lecturers and professors about their own career pathways to inspire and demonstrate that there is no such thing as a standard academic pathway. The event will comprise panel and group discussions in addition to talks. 

Special guest speaker, Professor Tom Welton from Imperial College will be addressing the issue of Imposter Syndrome and give participants some coping tips.

Professor Shareen Doak

Current Swansea University academic Professor Shareen Doak (Medicine) will be talking about her academic journey “From Desert to Sea” and Dr Camilla Knight (Sports Science) will talk about her research in sport psychology and her collaborative work with children’s charities. Other talks will focus on How can I become an academic?and Academic careers on the edge of academia.
