The University’s delegation head to the US today (July 20) for a 10-day trip that will include two matches as well as a series of recruitment events aimed at providing an overview of the courses and programmes on offer in Swansea.

Sponsorship for the tour has been provided by Swansea Audi, whose name will appear on the team’s shirts for friendly matches against DC United’s Under-23 team at the RFK Stadium on July 24 and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis on July 28.

Staff from the International Development Office will be present as they play host to athletic directors, coaches and career advisers from several US universities, colleges and high schools in the area.

Swansea University FC are preparing for life in Welsh League Division Two after a superb campaign last season that saw Dafydd Evans’s side clinch the Division Three title in style, scoring 100 goals in the process.

The US trip follows the news that Declan McCabe and Zack Knudson – who studied at Georgetown in the US - will feature for the club in 2018/19 alongside their studies with the School of Management.

Dafydd Evans, Swansea University FC Director of Football, said:

“It will also help the University to market itself in North America and highlight the excellent level of programmes and teaching we have both academically and athletically.

“This trip will help us reach and find potential new student athletes, as well as market our unique football model which competes in both the BUCS Premier League and the Welsh League.”
