The Swansea Science Festival, which will be on 8^th-10^th September 2017, follows the magnificent success of the British Science Festival and weekend Family Festival in September 2016, which attracted over 25,000 visitors and put Swansea University research on the map with unprecedented global news coverage.

The free festival will be hosted by the University’s festival partner the National Waterfront Museum and will kick off with an evening event on Friday 8^th September for adults followed by a weekend of family events.

While the final programme is still to be confirmed, the festival will feature a feast of interesting and entertaining things to discover through theatrical presentations, workshops, music, demonstrations, and visitors will have plenty of opportunities to get hands-on experiences – not only from everyday day science but through to the very latest research.

‌Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott said: “Swansea University was so proud to host the British Science Festival last year. The event was an enormous success, with huge visitor satisfaction for the core Festival itself and for our hugely successful Family Weekend at the National Waterfront Museum.

“Visitors told us how much they enjoyed the events, and said they would like to see more. Well, they will get more! This was the start of a science legacy for Swansea. We are committed to holding an annual science event for Swansea and building on the huge public engagement and impact of the Festival and Family Weekend as we continue to inspire the next generation of scientists.

“The Swansea Science Festival will give people of all ages the chance to get involved and enjoy a hands-on experience of science, making it fun for all the family. The programme will include a very broad range of the world leading research carried out by Swansea academics.”
