The “Digital futures in Health and Wellbeing; can public services survive without them?” event, which will also look at talent, technology, and culture, takes place on Thursday, June 29, at the School of Management, on the University’s Bay Campus. 

The Morgan Academy Symposium - agenda

The symposium brings together an impressive list of industry and healthcare leaders, to debate and ask searching questions about the future of our health and social care system in Wales in the digital age, including what a digitally transformed future could look like for our healthcare services; what we can learn from industry; and how ready are we to harness digital opportunities.

The day’s expert panel debates, featuring senior representatives from companies, organisations, and partnerships such as Airbus; Renishaw; Cisco; Proton Partners International; PwC; Deloittes; and A Regional Collaboration for Health (ARCH), will be chaired by Adrian Masters, ITV Cymru Wales’ Political Editor.

Professor Mike Sullivan, Director of the Morgan Academy, which is named after the late Rhodri Morgan, former First Minister of Wales and Swansea University Chancellor, said: “The Morgan Academy was created to deal with the pressing ‘wicked issues’ of public policy in Wales and the wider World.  This conference, with a focus on cyber security and the safety of healthcare data, has been organised to challenge the state of readiness of key public services and sectors, and find solutions to pressing challenges facing them.

“And this symposium could not have been planned to take place at a more opportune time, as the NHS recovers following the global ransomware attack last month, where it faced renewed concern about the strength of its infrastructure.
