The National Waterfront Museum alone welcomed record numbers of visitors, seeing some 8,100 visitors come through their doors, which was up on the 6,500 visitors who attended last year's British Science Festival Family Weekend.

This year’s festival was the legacy of the British Science Festival and Family Festival, which was held in 2016 and was an enormous success, it put Swansea University research on the map with unprecedented global news coverage. The experience was so positive that we wanted to inspire the next generation of scientists by creating a science festival legacy for the city that showcases our inspiring and diverse world-leading research.

The festival proffered a vast array of events which were held across Swansea and saw a range of activities for all ages, in seven interactive zones: Body & Mind, Gadgets & Gizmos, Planet Earth, Bug Hub, Material World, Egyptian Experiments and Energy Zone.

Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor Hilary Lappin-Scott of Swansea University said: “We're all so thrilled with how well the Swansea Science Festival has gone and I would like to thank all the staff who put so much work into making it happen.  I am also very grateful to our visitors for the great support they have shown us and we are all looking forward to seeing them again next year for the 2018 Swansea Science Festival!”
