Anna Brown, who grew up outside Washington D.C, studied for an MA in Childhood Studies at the College of Human and Health Sciences (2014-15) and now has written a book entitled, ‘The Extraordinary Day of Daffodil Grey’ about a brave young girl and her cat, Teacake.

The theme of the story is based around Article 31 of the UNCRS (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child), which Anna says was one of the reason for choosing to study at Swansea University, with the UN convention heavily focussed upon in Welsh education.

Anna comments, “My studies have helped me be inspired to write and publish my children’s book, which was not my initially chosen profession. It has also inspired me further to volunteer more time with children’s charities, and to publish more children’s books focusing on children’s rights.”

Now Anna hopes to continue creating a series of books with diverse characters about children’s rights, and eventually expand it to include children’s television program. She also plans to continue her time working and volunteering with children’s charities.

Anna is currently planning a book tour both in the UK and US.
