This has brought the total number of student residences, provided in three distinct phases by St. Modwen for the Bay Campus, to 2,005 for occupation as undergraduates start their studies this month. 

St. Modwen Student Living is responsible for the ongoing management of the student accommodation and associated facilities at the Bay Campus, with the on-site team of 12 people providing the facilities management services.

Rupert Joseland, St. Modwen’s property director for West and Wales, said: “The Bay Campus development is a major highlight of St. Modwen’s ongoing and transformational 2,500 acre regeneration programme across south Wales. It is also demonstrative of the positive impact we can have in supporting and regenerating communities over the medium and long term. To date, more than a million square foot of space at the new Campus has been successfully completed and reaching this milestone is the latest step in the long-term vision of the University to become a world-class educational establishment that will benefit students, staff and the local community for generations to come".

Professor Iwan Davies, senior pro-vice-chancellor at Swansea University, added: “It has once again been a pleasure to work with our development partners, St. Modwen, on the latest phase of development at our £450m Bay Campus. We are committed to providing first-class learning, living and social facilities so that Swansea can offer a student experience which is second to none and truly puts us on a global stage. The first phase of work at Bay Campus has now been completed, but the second phase will be starting soon, and exciting developments will continue up until 2020. As well as transforming the student experience, this is having a real impact on the economic regeneration of the Swansea Bay region". 

Under the existing outline planning consent for the Bay Campus, there is consent to deliver a total of up to 4,000 new student residences across the lifetime of this 10-year project build. St. Modwen will continue to work closely in partnership with Swansea University to realise this end goal.
