The Corporate Health Standard, run by the Welsh Government, is the quality mark for workplace health promotion in Wales. It is presented in bronze, silver, gold and platinum categories to public, private and third sector organisations implementing practices to promote the health and well-being of their employees.

The Chief Medical Officer for Wales Dr Frank Athertonby presented The Bronze Health Standard award to Swansea University’s  Registrar and Chief Operating Officer Raymond Ciborowski, Dr Heidi Smith, Head of Sustainability and Staff Wellbeing and other University staff health and wellbeing partners at the “Healthy Working Wales: Employment Support Event and Award Ceremony” at the Liberty Stadium.

Commenting about the award Raymond Ciborowski said: 

“ The CHS award reflects the common purpose approach which Swansea University is taking across important areas like Health and Wellbeing. Our strategic plan highlights out intention to build on the strengths of our staff from across the University eg Human Resources, Occupational Health, Health and Safety and Sustainability and Wellbeing, recognising and improving support for staff health and wellbeing in line with our values. Using the CHS guidance and support we are now challenging how we promote health and wellbeing into topics such as staff participation in the university sports facilities and increasing the healthy food offerings on campus.

“ Swansea University staff have worked hard to achieve the Bronze Award but we are aiming high and hope to turn our Bronze into Platinum as we continue to introduce measures to encourage others to be healthy, happy and active. ”
