Egypt Centre ‘Photographing Antiquity’ Exhibition 6th February to 19th March.

On Saturday 5th December the Egypt Centre took several objects off display and invited individuals interested in photography to come and photograph them. The idea was to see how people interested in aesthetics, as opposed to the ‘Egyptological importance’ of the objects, view the artefacts. The exhibition is a taste of the results.

The theme of the artefacts the Centre had chosen was ‘Demons and Spirits of the Dead’, a topic those of you who know the Centre well will realise is close to their hearts (they are even hosting a conference on demons in March’).

All the photographs will be put online from 5th February and a selection will appear in the 'Photographing Antiquity' exhibition which has its opening night on 5th February. Sybil Crouch, Head of Cultural Services at Swansea University, will be opening the event. The exhibition will then be open to the public from 6th February to the 19th March 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday. Admission is free.
