In addition, the University has also been awarded 5 Stars in the globally recognised quality rating by QS Stars, placing the institution in the company of top global universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge. 

The Guardian League tables published today confirm that Swansea University is a rising star with a remarkable improvement of 42 places in just 5 years, (from 94^th in 2012 to 52^nd in 2016). In particular, the rankings also confirm Swansea University as a top-20 institution (ranked 18^th) for graduate employability and supporting our students to do well.

The tables also show that Swansea University delivers subjects that appear in the top 10 and 20 in the UK:

• Top 10 for Engineering: Materials and Minerals, Social Work and American Studies.
• Top 20 for Computer Science, Medicine, Engineering: Chemical, Health Professions, Social Policy & Administration and Media & Film Studies. 

The Guardian University Guide also states “Swansea University is a hot contender for any best campus award going…and is a forerunner in terms of academic and scientific discovery, the university is developing plans for a new science and innovation campus to include teaching and research facilities for the College of Engineering, Business and Economics.”

Swansea’s new 5 stars rating in the QS Stars assessment firmly places the institution amongst the world leading universities to have also achieved 5 stars such as Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge. QS Stars is a quality rating system which allows students to get a wider picture of an institution’s qualities, looking at everything from the employability of its graduates, to sports facilities and community engagement.

In the assessment, Swansea achieved a top 5 star rating for Teaching, Innovation, Facilities, Internationalisation and Inclusiveness with Employability and Research receiving an excellent 4 stars. Since the first QS Stars audit in January 2012 Swansea has continued to go from strength to strength improving from an overall 4 star rating to 5 stars.
