‌Julia Terry, Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing, was awarded a NICE Fellowship after submitting her application and being successfully interviewed last month.

NICE Fellows are senior health and social care leaders who act as ambassadors at a regional and national level and among their professional groups and peers.  NICE Fellows build networks of influential professionals who support NICE in the implementation of its guidance.

Ms Terry said: “I will be in this role one day per month, engaging with senior staff at NICE and in the health and social care sector.

“I plan to drive health improvement by developing the NICE student champion role in the College, exploring current teaching and learning material on mental health conditions, discussing best practice with stakeholders and finally promoting and further developing patient and public involvement with NICE.

“I will have a lot to learn at the beginning, but there are a lot of opportunities here for students, colleagues and our health board partners.”
