Sponsored by Swansea University, the GwyddonLe pavilion showcases Swansea University's science provision, with various demonstrations and experiments taking place throughout the day.

During the visit, the First Minister witnessed scientific experiments with liquid nitrogen, learned about DNA extraction with Dr Heledd Iago from Swansea University's Medical School, and also held a star fish from the aquatic tank.

Following the visit, the First Minister said: "It was wonderful to see so many innovative activities in the fields of science and technology taking place through the medium of Welsh taking at the GwyddonLe, and that the Urdd, Swansea University and S4C are continuing annually to build on their portfolio of innovative and varied activities for young people to enjoy".

Professor Iwan Davies, Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor, added: "We were delighted to welcome the First Minister to the GwyddonLe, and were pleased to see so many children of all ages enjoying the activities.

"Swansea University promotes outreach to young people in order to inspire them about science.  The GwyddonLe is a great opportunity to communicate to all ages stimulating an interest in the sciences and will encourage youngsters to continue their studies at the University one day.

"Swansea University cherishes its partnership with the Eisteddfod. I hope that everyone will have an opportunity to visit the GwyddonLe to enjoy the feast of activities that are available throughout the week”.

The GwyddonLe is open daily from 10am until 4pm.
