Once again this year, Literature Wales will curate a weekend-long programme of literature events at the Tafwyl festival. On Saturday, 4 July, Swansea University’s Academi Hywel Teifi will hold a session entitled, Cerddi Newydd (New Poetry), in the Literature Tent between 3pm - 3.50pm.

TafwylOne of the most important poets of the 15th century was Hywel Dafi (Hywel ap Dafydd ab Ieuan ap Rhys) but his work has never been collated and edited until now. During the session, Dr Cynfael Lake from Academi Hywel Teifi will discuss his new book which introduces Hywel Dafi’s work for the first time. There will also be an exclusive opportunity to hear brand new poems from Professor Christine James, 2014 Wales Book of the Year poetry category winner, and Professor Tudur Hallam.

Tafwyl is the annual festival established by Menter Caerdydd in 2006 to celebrate the use of Welsh in Cardiff. Tafwyl’s main event is the Tafwyl fair, a fun-filled weekend in Cardiff Castle which is a combination of artistic, musical, cultural, and sport events all through the Welsh language.
