For the fourth year running, Swansea University has participated in Stonewalls Workplace Equality Index.

Taking part in the Workplace Equality Index is an effective way to measure efforts to tackle discrimination and create an inclusive workplace for our lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.

The University is pleased to announce that we progressed by moving up 101 places in the index, which means we are now ranked 135 out of 397 organisations that took part.

Andrew White, Director of Stonewall Cymru said: “The Workplace Equality Index is designed to challenge and stretch employers and this year we made it tougher than ever by asking for evidence of the impact of employers were having on staff.  We received more submissions from Wales than ever making it the most competitive index to date. Our vision is of a Wales where lesbian gay and bisexual people can realise every ounce of their potential.  We’re very proud of employers like, Swansea University, who are helping make that vision a reality.”

David Williams, Director of HR at Swansea University said: "I am delighted by the University's dramatic leap in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. We hope that this will make Swansea a University of choice for LGBT staff and students."

The University will be celebrating LGBT History month throughout February this year, with a number of activities, and encourages all staff and students to fully participate in these.
