The University’s Business Marketing Manager Ali Parker said: “The scope of the development is clearly visible from Fabian Way and our guests all agreed the speed at which the buildings have risen from the ground is phenomenal.

“With just over a year to go until the new campus opens, the buildings are already being fitted out internally with vast windows being installed at the Great Hall.”

During the visit, the Students’ Union officers climbed to the top of one of the student residences, which has sweeping views across Swansea Bay.

“The contractor VINCI Construction UK tell us when finished, the steps in all of the student residence buildings – if put into one staircase – will reach the top of the world’s tallest hotel in Dubai (the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai at 355 metres),” added Ms Parker.

“All agreed that the views from the student residences across the Swansea Bay Campus are ‘awesome’.”

A further £50m development has recently been announced to include 545 additional student residences and Students’ Union facilities including a gymnasium, sports hall, nursery, meeting rooms for clubs and societies.

Following the visit, Ceinwen Cloney, Swansea University Students’ Union President, said: “The Bay Campus will be an inspirational place to study and work.”

Charlotte Peters, Students’ Union Sport Officer, added: “It’s been an eye-opening experience visiting the Bay Campus, the scale is simply amazing.”
