‎The trail takes walkers through a range of environments on the campus including woodland, a pool, a marsh and a formal garden. 

The Biodiversity project team hope that staff, students and visitors will soon be enjoying the trail and that children from the University crèche will also use it to learn more about the natural world.

Nature trail maps and leaflets are available along with six information signs around the trail explaining the Biodiversity Action Plan and what the university does to look after wildlife on the site. The trail has been created in partnership with SERT (Swansea Ecology Research Team) and students have helped to produce the information signs.

The project team is also launching free bike hire called BayCycle for staff and students as well as other activity schemes.

Plans for the future include more information signs pointing out particular ecological features of interest and more maps and leaflets detailing new history and geology trails.

Dr Heidi Smith, Swansea University’s Sustainability Manager said: “The nature trail is a simple guided walk.  If people have 30 minutes to spare during their lunch break or before their film starts at the Taliesin Arts Centre they should take the opportunity to connect with this wonderful natural environment.

“Walking and cycling are great exercise and stress-busters and we hope that more and more people, whether they are staff, students, conference attendees or visitors will take time out of their day to enjoy the fantastic green spaces around them here at Swansea University.”
