The next in the series of free community lectures organised by Swansea University’s Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE) will take place on Thursday, 18 April.

Title: The Beauty of Ugliness

Lecture summary: In this lecture, Sarah Hopkins will talk about at her work as an artist and printmaker. Sarah has worked as an artist since 1987 and has exhibited her work around the UK.

She creates bespoke artwork for interior and public spaces and also works on collaborative art projects working with groups in the community, education and healthcare sectors.

In 2012 some of her works depicting scenes of South Wales’ culture were purchased by the Palace of Westminster for the Parliamentary Art Collection and are now displayed at Millbank House.

In recent years she has developed and managed Swansea Print Workshop’s Festival of Muslim Cultures Print Project and jointly curated Contemporary Welsh Printmakers exhibition which toured Pakistan in 2007.

More recently she was the Award Artist for the Josef Herman Foundation in 2008 and worked with primary school children across four counties in South Wales.

She is currently Curriculum Area Head of Creative Industries, Sport and Foundation at Coleg Sir Gar.
