The meet was of a very high standard with entries coming from across Europe, USA and the UAE. Amongst the entries were triple Olympic gold Medallist Natalie Coughlin and current Olympic champions Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands to name but a few.

Swansea swimmers held their own across a range of events with several outstanding swims to note. Georgia Davies who represented Team GB at London 2012 was to return with two gold medals for her main events the 50 and 100 Backstroke with strong early season times.

Joining Georgia on the podium was 3rd year sports science student Adam Mallett who picked up silver in the mens 200 Butterfly. On the female side of things Alys Thomas showed a good return to form after a successful BUCS meet only two weeks previous. Thomas swam a lifetime best in the 50 fly and was to medal in the 200 fly (Bronze) and then add a silver to her collection with a lifetime best in the 100 fly.

More pleasing was how Thomas secured silver from lane 1 having been seeded 7th into the final behind Kromowidjojo (Olympic Champion for 50/100 Freestyle) and Jeanette Otteson of Denmark who was World Champion for the 100 free from 2011.

Gemma  Almond also featured in numerous MC (Multi Class) finals for Swansea University with a number of top 8 finishes including the 100 Butterfly. Gemma, a London 2012 Paralympian will now look to build on this form over the next four weeks in preparation for the IPC World Championship Trials.
