‘Brwdfrydedd Heintus’, which will be held at the University’s Institute of Life Science at 7pm, will try to spark students, sixth form pupils and members of the public’s interest in scientific subjects.

Thanks to funding by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, this will be the first event of its kind and it’s hoped it will be held on a yearly basis in future.

A series of presentations and workshops will be held to simulate discussions on subjects like TB as well as the importance of bacteria in our daily lives.

During the event, Swansea University’s Welsh language research forum will be formally launched. The forum will aim to hold a series of scientific seminars through the medium of Welsh across the campus.

Dr Angharad Davies, Senior Lecturer in Microbiology at Swansea University’s College of Medicine said: ‘‘I would like to thank Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol for enabling us to hold this event and I sincerely hope it becomes a yearly event in the University’s calendar. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the field to come along as they will no doubt be inspired by both the discussions and research that takes place here at Swansea University.’’
