On 29 November, Swansea University welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Embassy at the invitation of Dr Weixi Xing, Director of China Centre in the University’s Department of Research and Innovation.
Mr. Futao Chen, Minister Counsellor for Science and Technology Section from the Chinese Embassy visited especially to understand the University’s research excellence and strengthen existing links with China.
Mr. Futao Chen was welcomed to campus by Swansea University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard B Davies, Pro-vice chancellor Professor Ian Cluckie, Dean of College of Engineering, Professor Javier Bonet, Dean of Medical Education, Professor Judy McKimm, Professor Jan Nielsen, Director of Department of Research and Innovation and Professor Steve Conlan, Director of Centre for NanoHealth.
Dr Gerry Ronan, Head of IP Commercialisation, introduced the research excellence at Swansea and how the University contributes to the economic development of the region.
Professor Steve Conlan gave a presentation about the Centre for NanoHealth’s links with Texas, Grenoble and Suzhou and Mr Futao Chen introduced the possible support of the Chinese Government for research collaboration and technology transfer activities.
During the visit, Mr. Futao Chen took the opportunity to visit the University’s Centre for NanoHealth, the Aquaculture laboratory and both the Rolls Royce and Coating laboratories.
