Swansea University’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Iwan Davies will reveal more about Swansea’s new Beach and Water Sports Centre, 360 which has been set up not for profit by Swansea University and Bay Leisure Limited.

Located on the foreshore, at the very heart of Swansea Bay, the Centre will offer a variety of sporting activities and training opportunities including kite surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, beach volley ball and more.

The £1.4m construction of the Centre is being managed by the City and County of Swansea and is backed by the Welsh Government through the European Regional Development Fund, Visit Wales and the Regeneration Area programme.

Visitors will have a taste of what the Centre will offer when it opens its doors in September by competing in a surfing competition on the stand and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Dr Kate Evans from the College of Science will hold an interesting session on her research into parkour and an explosive performance by Fluidity will follow before the end of the day.

Swansea University’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Iwan Davies said: ‘‘360 will be a facility for the local community, students and visiting tourists and will be a great addition to the sporting opportunities available in Swansea at the moment. I look forward to the opening in due course and revealing more about the Centre to visitors at the National Eisteddfod this year.’’
