Swansea University will stage Cyfrwng this year between 12-13 July 2012.

Cyfrwng is Wales’ largest Media and Literature Conference and its aim is to encourage both critical and lively debate on the media in Wales as well as bridge the gap that exists between the media industry and higher education in Wales.

The theme for this year’s conference will be the relationship which exists between literature and the media within Small Nations. During the conference, a variety of presentations, workshops and several discussion panels will be held especially to debate about this particular topic.

Among this year’s highlights will be Dave Berry’s Memorial Lecture, which will discuss ‘Animating Literature’ with ex-Director of Animation at S4C, Chris Grace, and Editor on Mabinogi, Naomi Jones.

Another highlight will be a debate between Ed Thomas, Dafydd James and Rhodri Davies on how one of the most successful theatre plays of recent years, Llwyth by Dafydd James, will be adapted for the small screen.

The conference’s main highlight will be the Cyfrwng Award which will be presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to mass media in Wales. The award will be presented in a dinner at Morgans Hotel, Swansea on Thursday, 12 July 2012 at 7.30pm and the individual’s name will be announced in due course.
