The visitors, from Hankou Union Hospital which is affiliated to Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, are to visit Swansea to commemorate the centenary of the death of the founder of the hospital, Dr Griffith John, a Swansea born missionary who worked in Hankou for more than 50 years.

As part of their visit to the city, the group led by Dr. Guobin Wang, the President of Union Hospital, Professor of General Surgery, is to visit Swansea University on Friday 30 November.

They will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Vice Chancellor of Swansea University, Professor Richard B. Davies which is intended to strengthen the historic links with the College of Medicine in the field of medical and healthcare education research and collaboration. 

This will be followed by a tour of the College of Medicine, the Institute of Life Science, and Singleton Hospital.

Professor Keith Lloyd, Head of the College of Medicine at Swansea University said: “We welcome our colleagues from China and hope to work closely with them in the coming years to establish a long-term programme of both undergraduate and postgraduate student teaching and exchange, scholar exchange and joint research and workshops.”
