The not for profit company set up by Swansea University and Bay Leisure Limited to operate a new beach and water sports centre being built on the Swansea Bay foreshore have today unveiled the brand and visual identity for the new venture. 

The name for the new Centre – 360 – represents the completeness, inclusivity and focus that the facility will offer the local community, students, enthusiasts and visiting tourists.

360 - Beach and Water Sports will offer a range of sports, activities and training when it opens its doors this coming September. 

As part of the brand development a logo has been created that offers a modern, dynamic and exciting visual identity, encapsulating striking design and contemporary colours that reflect the activities on offer, the new branding will set the new Centre apart on a local and national scale.

Ben Lucas, Business Development and Marketing Manager, Swansea University commented;

“The new facility sits right at the heart of the local community and we are keen to develop the Centre as an asset for the city that promotes access to sport for all. 

“We wanted to ensure that we developed a brand that was consistent with our core values and with 360 we believe we have created an identity that is welcoming and accessible to all whilst conveying a professional approach and commitment to world class service.”

BBC personality, Welsh National and British Surfing Champion and Swansea University Graduate Renee Godfrey said: “ I whole heartedly support the proposed Watersport Centre of Excellence .The ideals behind the 360 brand - ‘completeness, inclusivity and focus of the facility’ go hand in hand with the approach Swansea University has to education and sport – it will add further value to the student experience, as well as to the City’s sporting offering. How exciting!”

Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Swansea is fast-developing an international reputation as a world class sporting city. We need to make the most of our stunning coastal location and the new watersports centre will generate more vibrancy on the promenade. The new centre will complement what’s already a fantastic sporting offer in Swansea, thanks to facilities like the Wales National Pool, our network of community leisure centres and the Liberty Stadium. It will also be a huge boost to have the watersports centre on a route that’s a key gateway to the outdoor playground of Gower.”

In the coming weeks the new brand will be developed to include an interactive website, full social media presence and a pre-launch advertising campaign, reflecting the offers and activities available when the Centre launches.  This will include kite surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, beach volley ball and a beach side bistro.

The £1.4m construction of the centre is being managed by the City and County of Swansea and is backed by the Welsh Government through the European Regional Development Fund, Visit Wales and the Regeneration Area programme.
